My diary, essentially, where I share my day to day life when I feel the need to express myself

Flashy new style

Today, I woke up slightly better, my back doesn’t hurt as much as it did yesterday, but I’m still not used to the new bed. I didn’t do much during the morning but finished organizing the house, the little that I had left to sort is now in the right place.

The morning was nice and I enjoyed it with another mug of coffee and toast as I usually do. I have space outside for a small garden, I should look into planting some flowers one day, but not until my back gets better.

Looking inside the fridge, I noticed it’s mostly empty and I need to go to town to do some groceries. So when 9 am struck, I left the house in one of my dresses and brought some money, did my 40-minute walk to town to take care of things. I love going to town, the road leading to it is always so comfortable to me. Birds singing and often a breeze flows by, which was the case today. I wondered what kind of activity the town has on a Friday, it’s usually busier than usual.

And it was, the town was booming with humans walking about. They come to see their families or use the time to go shopping for the weekend. Since most of the sidewalks were busy, I was forced to use the road, so I squeeze through and stand between two cars. It was slow to get around, but I had no choice. Furthermore, I needed to come back later to meet with Clarissa again to get the rest of my outfit, which was ready to pick up this afternoon.

I should also write about what happened, my ankle is still bruised from the little incident I had! A human in his car decided to leave his parking spot as I was waiting for the green light to turn on. He either didn’t see me or was distracted by something, he backed up too much and quite quickly too, hit my leg and it was painful, the metal thingy felt like I had hit my leg on a rock! He then comes out of his car, waving around saying I should’ve moved away and whatnot, all I said to him was to watch his back because I was already there waiting. He kept blabbering about and I paid him no mind, and if I ever felt guilty for his car being dented, those feelings escaped me completely, no guilt what-so-ever…

This sort of situation happens often, there are still people who don’t like us being around their environment. You see, it wasn’t long since Giants started to be allowed to live among humans, long enough for my grandparents to be able to do it their entire lives but still a few generations off, and it seems like the humans were never truly used to the change, some of them at least. I usually get a very good reception from them, but there’s always the odd one who will find a way to create conflict. I’m not sure what they expect to get here, and I’m truly glad we’re not violent in nature because that, I’m sure, would’ve been enough to make me do something I’d regret. I didn’t feel any anger though, which is good.

Anyway, I eventually arrived at the grocery store, two other Giants were there, the shelves are made with our size in mind, and we get a hefty quantity of food to choose from, a lot of human products too. Most tend to be priced down or have some sort of discount to them, like the milk cartons, which now are two for the price of one, as the advertisement signs would indicate, with lettering that figuratively screams at you from the entire store, almost impossible to ignore.

I got quite a lot of food, basic stuff like bread, milk, some selection of fruit and a few packs of chicken, which I quite like. No vegetables or seasonal fruit as I get those at home from our farm, either my dad or brothers usually bring some in a crate for me. I paid the lot to the human cashier while chatting with my parents’ neighbor, another Giant, who was asking if I was settling fine and how much they miss me around and all that. Don’t worry, miss, I’m fine, I still go help my parents pretty much every day. I guess they just miss having little me around, but we all grow up and it was my time.

Noon came about and I was home thirty minutes past. I decided I wanted to keep it simple and made six chicken and lettuce sandwiches for lunch, it was mostly enough, with bread that was about twice the size of human toast bread. It filled me up enough and I decided to go to sleep afterward.

I woke up at 4 pm, a little bit late to pick up the dress, so I called Clarissa asking if she was available to meet up again, and she was, so we met at the tailor. It was getting dark when we saw each other, but the place was still open. They got my top and it looked just like my friend envisioned! It looked great on me, and I was very happy to finally have something new to wear. Here, I have a picture of the new outfit:

Town Giant Aleena

I’m so happy! Tomorrow, I might put it on and walk around town in style! Maybe I’ll use it while I sell our vegetables… Or maybe I won’t sell while wearing this one, I don’t want to damage it with the dirty barrel basket… Indeed, better not risk it.

Since we were together, Clarissa and I stuck around chatting for a while and she invited me to have dinner with her and another girl from her work, a sort of ladies’ night out but just dinner. I can’t stay up too late, unfortunately. I would say it was supposed to be a ladies’ night but Clarissa brought her husband to the dinner. I didn’t mind at all, he’s a good man, he’s the one who offered to help with tidying the house with Clarissa and I refused, I can’t let humans carry such heavy things… Don’t get me wrong, I just see humans as such delicate creatures, I couldn’t let them at risk of getting hurt. Maybe I’m underestimating their strengths and resistances, I’ve been told before, but what can I say. I had a very unpleasant experience with humans before, it got etched into my brain that humans are frail and delicate. I might tell what happened someday, it’s not an easy story to tell.

Dinner went well, we went to the Bond again, the only good place where Giants and humans can get together easily and serves good food at a reasonable price. I mostly stood there listening, as they talked about their day and I had no idea what most of it meant. As I’m not really a social person, I didn’t know what to say. I like to listen to their stories, so I didn’t mind at all!

Once done, we went our ways, I got back home safely, tried on the new outfit, and took a picture to share! I’m so happy about today despite my ankle and back still aching, but I don’t mind at all. I’m having a nice mug of tea to relax and I shall end the day! Lots to tell today, so I hope it wasn’t too long to read.

See you tomorrow!

A day with a friend

I woke up this morning with my back hurting and tense, I must not be used to the new bed… It’s basically a giant mattress on the floor that fills the sides of the room where the window is, the bedroom is small and this mattress fills half of it perfectly. It’s about 18ft long, maybe 3ft tall and 9ft wide, I didn’t measure it. It’s new too, so maybe that’s the reason why I slept so bad…

It was 5:30 am and I was about to get breakfast. It was raining outside, it seems like I didn’t need to water the vegetables at the farm today. However, I was always thinking that this could last the entire day, and I really wanted to go out for a bit. I miss the town.

I got a mug of instant coffee and some toast, sat down on my couch to watch TV while I ate. It was cold today and it surprised me since it’s Summer. I looked out the window and the clouds were covering the sky such that I had to turn on a light. Reminds me of the cold Winters at my parents’ house.

Once done eating, I went to organize my clothes properly, which I’ve neglected to do since I settled here. The phone rings all the way in the kitchen, so I scrambled through the mess. I accidentally hit my foot on the door-frame and I think I left a dent in it. Just my lucky day, my foot still hurts. Anyway, I picked up the phone and it was my good friend Clarissa on the other side, a human friend of mine, about my age. She was asking how I was settling and if I needed help, which I dismissed. I didn’t want her to see the mess, though I invited her to come over later for lunch. She makes a point that it was still raining, so we decided to instead go for an afternoon snack together at the Bond instead, a pub which was designed to let both humans and Giants in. The building is open at the back and has Giant-sized tables, in open-air, while humans go inside the building and can interact with us through the opened back wall on the second floor. They serve good food and I really like their coffee, too!

It was 3:40 pm when we met, I had just woken up from my afternoon nap. She looked stunning and I was wearing the simplest green Summer dress. We caught up a bit and after a while, the conversation went to money and income, and how she was earning more, which made me mention that I wasn’t earning enough for even a new outfit!

Since Clarissa is such a fashion person, she proposed we look for something and she’d help me pay it off over time. I don’t really like to owe people money but I also wanted a fresh look. And so we spent the afternoon together in the Giant stores zone of the industrial area of town. There, they have huge storage buildings that are used as shops, which we can enter without having to bend down, a really well thought out solution for us. There are 2 tailors in town, we went to both but settled with the one with more options. They had a nice dress I wanted, however, Clarissa thought it’d be a better idea for me to change it up a bit and dress in something more modern. We found some white jeans shorts and black boots. I couldn’t ever pay for those, but she was willing to add them to the new outfit. She thought maybe a lilac colour would work well on me, but they didn’t have enough cloth in that colour to make the top Clarissa envisioned. She spent some time with them, discussing some styles and colours and even types of fabric to custom make a top for me, while I was just sitting there listening. I’m… really not much into fashion, so I didn’t know what to say…

After a few hours and some ice cream walk, we arrived back at the store, my outfit was ready to try and this was what they had in mind:

New planned outfit I’ll pick up tomorrow!

I love it and as such, I accepted they finish work on it. It will be ready tomorrow for me to pick up, I’m so excited! Clarissa mentioned how it makes me look much more modern. We added a few more details in and planned to pick it up tomorrow and get a hair makeover, and I couldn’t say no to that! So tomorrow it is, and I shall post about it!

I came back home a while back, made some dinner, and am now writing this before I take a shower and go to bed. It’s raining again and it’s the perfect time for me to enjoy it and relax. I’ll probably read a book in bed, I need to sleep early, as usual, I need my 9 hours of sleep minimum.

See you tomorrow!
